Making the complex look simple, this armchair and footstool are composed of three main elements: an innovative moulded plywood shell in glossy veneer, cast aluminium frame and soft leather upholstered cushioning. Using modern production techniques, the shell is assembled from five thin sheets of plywood covered in a polished veneer prior to heat and pressure shaping. This is contrasted by the sharp lines of the aluminium frame that gently locks together the curved, organic forms to create one harmonious silhouette. To alleviate any friction and provide ease of movement, pioneering rubber shock-mount pads are placed between the frame and shell enabling the back and headrest to flex. The raised legs of its cast aluminium base enables full 360 rotation with the low seat of this chair fixed to a permanent recline. Expertly tailored by artisan seamstresses, these hand chalked and cut leather panels are finished with matching piping and cloth covered buttons.
