The woven paper cord used on the backrest and seat, a replacement for seagrass developed during World War II, had never been used in furniture design before. Nevertheless, the look of the material and it's non-stretching and optimal durability make this piece fascinating from all angles. Typically, it takes a skilled craftsman around ten hours and approximately 400 metres of paper cord to complete one seat and backrest by hand. Using a particular technique that resembles weaving, the expert craftsmanship is visible on both sides of the low reclining backrest.
